FOR PROMOTERS, EVENT ORGANISERS HIRING MONSTER TRUCKS FOR Public EVENTS

1. Ensure any Monster truck Owner, Operator, Manager or Hiring Agent has full Public Liability Insurance for the Monster Truck/s that you have hired.

2. Check that Insurance relates to the Truck in question i.e. name on Truck example insurance states "Outback Thunda" is insured. Check that this is the truck you have on your premises. Inspect truck number plate/reference that will be on Insurance Policy and also on the Monster Truck Number plate WELDED on the frame of the truck.

3. Inspect AMTRA Monster Truck Driving Licence of the operator of the truck. This ensures you have a capable person operating the machine in your public arena. This licence also ensures that the driver has a current Medical Certificate and First Aid certificate, both of which you can request to view on the day of the event. NOTE it is policy that all Drivers have an annual Medical and maintain a current First Aid Certificate.

4. Request to see the operators current Workers Compensation Policy as basically all Monster Truck Operators have some either paid or voluntary Assistance.

5. Request inspection of each truck’s kill radio equipment. (RII Remote Ignition Interrupter) Monster trucks are large machines created to destruct property. A kill radio enables the Official or person given responsibility of taking charge of the unit that he/she has power to cease the trucks operations at any time he/she deems necessary in terms of safety to others.

6. All drivers are to be available to conduct an alcohol or drug test at any event if requested by a Chief Steward or Senior Organiser or member of Law Enforcement agency.

7. Ensure at least 4 safety/security personnel supplied by the organizers are present to ensure no spectators can enter the Monster Truck area and also these personnel are equipped with fully charged Fire Extinguishers, capable of fighting methanol fire, supplied by the event organizer. If the event organizer does not provide these then to be supplied by the monster truck owner. This should be discussed during the booking procedure. At least two Extinguishers must carry up to date tags current tagging.

8. Either a First Aid or Ambulance personnel to be present at all monster truck performances.

9. Car jumping only to be conducted at securely fenced arenas, i.e. No jumping in the situation of a vacant area fenced purely by bunting, unless at least 20 metres from car jumping area.

10. NO personnel from any organization to be inside the monster truck arena while the truck is in operation. These trucks have extremely limited vision, and can loose vital destructive mechanical parts such as wheels which could easily result in death for an infield official if any of these parts come adrift.

11. Crush cars set up to conform with AMTRA regulations.

12. Dirt ramps for jumping cars only to be used at venues with solid fences i.e. concrete with catch fence or where there is at least 60 metres clear distance in the direction that the truck is jumping. Ramps allow trucks to gain length jumps with speed which allows items such as wheels to become high speed 300kg projectiles. Skywheelies onto cars without dirt result in trucks pointing skywards at low speed – wheel loss is then contained to car crush area.

13. Venues with sub standard fences i.e. most showgrounds, football grounds etc trucks will be limited to a maximum speed of 40 kilometres.

14. Trucks not to jump within 20 metres of spectators on outdoor arena’s 10 metres on indoor arenas. This refers to actual jumping area special exemption may be requested following an inspection and report or an AMTRA Chief Steward and consultation with local authorities. EXAMPLE: Wayville Showgrounds solid concrete fence with steel upper fence supported by steel bracing in car areas trucks jumping away from spectators distance allowed 10 metres.

15. Racing activity only to take place at venues where trucks are at least 30 metres from spectators and circuits are contained to AMTRA Category 1 size that contains trucks to speeds under 40km per hour.

16. In the event of Roll over of monster truck at least two persons in attendance to be knowledgeable and prepared to disengage monster truck by pulling rear cut off lever. This must be clearly sign-written on the truck of its exact location and operate ignition shut off.

17. Organisers must be made aware whatever property they choose to leave on the arena infield; monster truck owners, drivers, sponsors or any associated persons will not be held responsible for any damage to any of this infield property.

18. Ensure venue arena’s have a minimum of 3.80 metre gateway/opening for monster trucks to access the main arena.

19. On completion of show if truck to be left on display for spectators at least two personnel to ensure no persons climb or touch monster trucks, injury resulting from such activities could become responsibility of the event organizer. No climbing on trucks, signage to be visible, mounted on each side also.

20. For your own personal protection ensure general public cannot access crushed cars after the event as these have many sharp and dangerous objects protruding.
